Math Stations- Numbers and Counting

Candy Corn Write the Room- Students walk around the room to find candy corn picture cards that have been posted on the walls throughout the classroom.  When they find a card, students count to determine how many pieces of candy corn they see and read the number word that matches the amount.

Students record the number word on their paper and color their candy corn to match the color of the number word.  Each number word has been written with a different colored marker.

Students found number words: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten.
This station is from Kathleen Pedersen's Fall Unit on TPT.  Here is a link to view her blog: Growing Kinders

Polka Dot Pumkpins- At this station students select a pumpkin and count the dots.

Students then record the number on their paper and color their pumpkin to match the color of the dots on the pumpkin they selected.  Some students also wrote the number word!
This station is from Deanna Jump and Julie Lee's Autumn Math and Literacy Station Packet on TPT.

Candy Corn Number Puzzles- At this station students put candy corn pieces together.  They matched the number with the number word.  The white section at the top has the matching amount of tally marks.

On their own paper students recorded the tally marks, numeral, and number word.
This station is from Mrs. Freshwater at http://mrsfreshwatersclass.blogspot.com.

Pumpkin Number Order- At this station students cut and glued the numbers in order from 1-10.

After gluing their pumpkins in order, students also wrote the number word to match the numeral.

Happy Birthday to You- At this station students matched number cards to cards with the matching amount of candles on a birthday cake.

Students then drew candles on the birthday cake to match the number on the cake.
This station is from Deanna Jump and Julie Lee's School Fun Packet on TPT.

Counting Jars- At this station students opened each jar and counted the objects inside.

They then recorded the number on their paper.

Each jar had something different inside of it to count.  In this jar, students counted small footballs.
This idea and the recording sheet came from Jessica Meacham at jmeacham.com.

Apple Number Word Book- At this station students stamped number words to match the number on each page.

They then drew the matching amount of apples in their tree.

Literacy Station Time!

Check out the pictures below to see some of the literacy stations students have been completing in the classroom this week!

We have been learning about the jobs of authors and illustrators.  At the car station students were the authors and illustrators of their own book.

First, students wrote their name on the front cover of the book.

Students then used their own mini farm word wall to help them create sentences or label pictures.
The farm word wall was downloaded from Jessica Meacham's site www.jmeacham.com

Students were encouraged to use their knowledge of popcorn words to write a sentence on each page.

At the truck station students found the matching capital and lowercase letter cards.

They then recorded their match on their paper.
This station is from Kathleen Pedersen's Fall Unit on TPT.

At the train station students completed a rhyming activity.  They were given a bag of picture cards.  Students found the two rhyming picture cards.

They then recorded some of their rhymes on their paper by drawing pictures or writing words.
This station is from Deanna Jump and Julie Lee's Autumn Math and Literacy Center Packet on TPT.

At the mail carrier station students used clothespins to practice spelling and reading popcorn words.

After selecting a popcorn word, students removed the clothespins.  They then mixed up the clothespins and clipped them back on the word in the correct order.

Finally, they recorded their word on their paper.  The clothespin recording sheet is from Shari Sloane at kidscount1234.com

At the caboose station students had fun putting candy corn puzzles together.  Students matched capital and lowercase letters to a picture with the matching beginning sound.

Students then recorded their completed puzzle on their paper.

Please check back soon for pictures of math stations!

Literacy Stations

At the car station students matched capital and lowercase letter cards.

Students recorded their matches on the recording sheet.  The following three stations are from Deanna Jump and Julie Lee at teacherspayteachers.com

Beginning Sounds Backpack: At this station students selected a backpack and determined the beginning sound of the picture.  Students then recorded their answer on their paper and colored their backpack to match.

Flip Flop Beginning Sounds: For this station students matched the letter to its beginning sound picture.

Students recorded their answer on their paper by writing the letter and coloring their flip flops to match.

At the train station students completed a letter web.  Students first sorted picture cards by their beginning sound.  For this letter web students were sorting and looking for pictures that begin with the /p/ sound.

Students then drew their /p/ pictures on their web and wrote the word under their drawing.

Apple Tree Letter Match- At this station students matched the lowercase letters on the tree with the capital letters on the apples.

I'll be posting math and literacy stations we are currently working on this week very soon!

Numbers 0-5 Math Stations

Here are the math stations students are currently completing in the classroom:

At this station students were introduced to dice and how we use them correctly in the classroom.  Students are practicing to recognize different dot configurations.  Students roll their own die and color in the matching dots on their paper.

Station from Shari Sloane at www.kidscount1234.com

At this station students count out the appropriate amount of "apples" to place on their tree.  Their "apples" should match the number in the basket.

Tree templates from Kelly at kellyskindergarten.com

After completing one tree, students select another from the basket.  There are trees for numbers 1-10.

Students are completing Brown Bear Numbers at Station 3.  For this station students roll number dice.  After rolling their die, students note the number and color of the number they rolled.  They then find the number on their paper.

Students used markers to trace the number to match the color of the number they rolled.

Station from Julie at mrsleeskinderkids.blogspot.com

Finally, at this station students select an animal from the story Brown Bear Brown Bear.  They color their animal on their paper to match.  Then they count the dots and record the amount of dots in the box on their paper.

Station also from Julie at mrsleeskinderkids.blogspot.com
