Literacy and Math Station Fun!

Below you will find pictures of our recently completed math and literacy stations.  Some literacy skills we are working on include: word families, blends, and popcorn word spelling.  All of our math stations included practice with addition!

Eggs in a Basket- at this station students select an egg from the basket.  On the outside of the egg the last two letters of a consonant vowel consonant word has been written.  Students open the egg to see what real word they can make.  They record the word on an egg on their paper.

After recording words on their paper, students were asked to use one word in a sentence on the back of their paper.

What's Planted Underneath- at this station students are practicing making popcorn words.  Students first select a carrot.  Inside of the carrot are letter tiles that spell a popcorn word.

Students use the mini word wall pictured above to help them determine what word they can spell.

After spelling the word with the letter tiles provided, students recorded the word on their paper.

Word Family Eggs- at this station students match the word family eggs with the correct word family.

Students recorded the blends on their paper and colored their flower to match.

Roll the Dice- at this station students rolled two dice.  Students then wrote an equation to match the dice they rolled.  Finally, students solved the equation and wrote the answer on their paper.

Domino Addition- students reached into the bag and pulled out a domino.  They recorded the dots from their domino on their paper.  Students then wrote an addition sentence to match the dots on their domino.

Egg Carton Addition- students shake the egg carton to see where the two erasers inside land.

Students write an addition sentence to record where the erasers landed.  They then solve the problem and record the answer on their paper.

Hot Air Balloon Addition- first students find the two hot air balloons of the same color.

Students then write an addition sentence to match the dots on the two hot air balloons.  Students record the answer on their paper.

Spring Literacy Stations

Hi Parents!  Below you can view pictures of our literacy stations from last week.  These stations included practice of the following skills: color word writing, recognizing and writing blends, popcorn word writing, and using invented spelling.  I hope you enjoy!

Lots of Spots- at this station students select a butterfly from the basket.  They then count the dots on the butterfly and note the color of the dots.

They then record the number and color word on their paper.  Finally they color their butterfly to match.

Boating Blends- at this station students select a boat and note the picture on the boat.  They then listen for the blend they hear at the beginning of the word.

Students then write the blend or the entire word on their paper.  Finally they color their boat to match.

Springtime Sentences- students select a spring card from the basket.  They then read the popcorn word on the card.

Students find the same picture on their paper and use the popcorn word in a sentence.  For example beside the rainbow on their paper students used the popcorn word where.

Station Update!

I have lots of station pictures to share with you!  The pictures below are from the last two math station rotations before Spring Break!  One week we had a Dr. Seuss theme and the other week focused on measurement practice.

One Fish, Two Fish- at this station students select a card from the basket and count to see how many fish bowls they see.  They then draw tally marks on their paper to match this number and color their ten frames to match.

Toothy Grins- At this station students selected a card from the basket.  They then counted to see how many teeth they saw.  They then used a dry erase marker to write the number word on the card.  Finally they recorded the number, number word, and drew the "toothy grin" on their paper.

Students could choose to use cards with the number words provided or blank boxes.
