We had a great first week in room B2! We read the book The Little School Bus. Students learned to identify the characters in the story. We also used the vocabulary words first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth when discussing the order in which the characters entered the bus.
Students also completed various literacy stations. Students rotate to a different station each day.
At the "car station" students cut and glued environmental print words into their own book. Recognizing environmental print makes children feel successful at reading and motivates them to read more! Environmental print book from: kellyskindergarten.com
At the "truck station" students used pattern blocks to make letters of the alphabet. The letter cards were made from makinglearningfun.com.
At the "mail carrier station" students used stickers to make their name.
At the "train station" students used foam letters to place in the correct order on the alphabet arc.
Students selected a letter from the box and found the matching letter on the alphabet arc. The alphabet arcs were printed from www.fcrr.org
At the "caboose station" students used play-doh to make capital and lowercase letters. The play-doh mats were made from Carl's Corner.
I'm looking forward to another great week!
