Spring Literacy Stations

Hi Parents!  Below you can view pictures of our literacy stations from last week.  These stations included practice of the following skills: color word writing, recognizing and writing blends, popcorn word writing, and using invented spelling.  I hope you enjoy!

Lots of Spots- at this station students select a butterfly from the basket.  They then count the dots on the butterfly and note the color of the dots.

They then record the number and color word on their paper.  Finally they color their butterfly to match.

Boating Blends- at this station students select a boat and note the picture on the boat.  They then listen for the blend they hear at the beginning of the word.

Students then write the blend or the entire word on their paper.  Finally they color their boat to match.

Springtime Sentences- students select a spring card from the basket.  They then read the popcorn word on the card.

Students find the same picture on their paper and use the popcorn word in a sentence.  For example beside the rainbow on their paper students used the popcorn word where.

Color Word Writing- first students used the cookie sheet to use the magnets pictured above.  Students read the color word on the nest and found the hen of the matching color.

Color Word Writing- after matching the magnets on their cookie sheet students completed the paper pictured above.  Students choose a color word to use in each sentence.

Sunflower Sound Match- students worked with a partner to place the sunflowers in ABC order.  They then used the circles to find the picture with the matching beginning sound.

Students then used the recording sheet to record their words beside each letter.  Students used invented spelling (writing the sounds they hear) to write each word.
