Literacy Station Time!

Check out the pictures below to see some of the literacy stations students have been completing in the classroom this week!

We have been learning about the jobs of authors and illustrators.  At the car station students were the authors and illustrators of their own book.

First, students wrote their name on the front cover of the book.

Students then used their own mini farm word wall to help them create sentences or label pictures.
The farm word wall was downloaded from Jessica Meacham's site www.jmeacham.com

Students were encouraged to use their knowledge of popcorn words to write a sentence on each page.

At the truck station students found the matching capital and lowercase letter cards.

They then recorded their match on their paper.

At the train station students completed a rhyming activity.  They were given a bag of picture cards.  Students found the two rhyming picture cards.

They then recorded some of their rhymes on their paper by drawing pictures or writing words.
This station is from Deanna Jump and Julie Lee's Autumn Math and Literacy Center Packet on TPT.

At the mail carrier station students used clothespins to practice spelling and reading popcorn words.

After selecting a popcorn word, students removed the clothespins.  They then mixed up the clothespins and clipped them back on the word in the correct order.

Finally, they recorded their word on their paper.  The clothespin recording sheet is from Shari Sloane at kidscount1234.com

At the caboose station students had fun putting candy corn puzzles together.  Students matched capital and lowercase letters to a picture with the matching beginning sound.

Students then recorded their completed puzzle on their paper.

Please check back soon for pictures of math stations!
